Israel Sending Four Swimmers to World University Games

JERUSALEM, August 1. FOUR swimmers will represent Israel at the World University Games in Daegu, Korea at the end of this month.

The four are:
Miki Halika: Former silver medalist at the European Championships in the 400 I.M. and former U. of Texas swimmer.

Ania Gostamelski: Finalist at the European Championships last year in Berlin in the backstroke.

Dov Melnik: Former U. of Minnesota swimmer and a participant in the last two World Championships.

Nimrod Palma: A butterflyer at the U. of Hawaii in his first big international meet.

Two swimmers opted not to join the team even though they have mete the necessary criteria:

Shilo Ayalon of Georgia Tech U. in the long distance free.

Inbal Levavi of the U. of Maryland in the I.M. and backstroke events.

The Israeli Head Coach is Leonid Kaufman of the swimming baording school/center at Wingate Institute.
