IOC Headquarters Flooded Monday, Archives Damaged

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, November 13. FLOODING Monday in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) headquarters caused a temporary closure of the site, forcing staff to relocate during cleanup, as reported by Inside the Games.

The flooding was caused by a weakened water pipe that burst near IOC headquarters. Water poured into the basement, damaging archives and suspending communication capabilities.

IOC director general Christophe De Kepper estimated that although 20-30 percent of the IOC's recent paper archives were damaged, none of the historic archives were touched.
