International Swim Meet: Federica Pellegrini, Filippo Magnini Post Meet Records

BERLIN, Germany, March 6. THE second day of long course meter action at the International Swim Meet held in Germany featured two more meet records, Federica Pellegrini's third and Filippo Magnini's first.

Pellegrini kept rolling at the competition with another meet record to her credit. This time, the world record holder claimed her third meet record in two days with a 1:58.13 in the women's 200 free. That performance wiped out Annika Lurz's 2008 standard of 1:58.70. Pellegrini's time is also the fastest in the world this year thus far, trumping Blair Evans' time of 1:58.51 from January. Rieneke Terink of The Netherlands (2:01.35) and Italy's Erica Buratto (2:02.74) completed the podium.

Magnini also checked in with a meet record in the men's 200 free. He turned in a 1:48.36 to chop more than a second from Stefan Herbst's 2008 record. The time put Magnini among the top five in the world this year. Italy's Emiliano Brembilla (1:52.17) and Poland's Mateusz Slawinski (1:52.34) placed second and third.
