LAUSANNE – Several world governments have pledged $6.45 million to the International Olympic Committee’s anti-doping fund, the World Anti-Doping Agency announced recently.

The fund was created as part of the Olympic Agenda 2020 and is worth $20 million, with $10 million set aside for researching new techniques to detect prohibited substances. The IOC asked select governments to match the $10 million, and has now received nearly $6.5 million in pledges. China, France, Ivory Coast, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, Sweden and the United States have all agreed to financially support the fund.
