International Olympic Committee Alters Athlete Blogging Rules Slightly for Olympics

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, May 14. ACCORDING to various media reports, the International Olympic Committee has slightly altered the rules for Olympic athlete blogging heading into the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.

While rules state that no competition reporting, images or video will be allowed, athletes will now be able to offer their personal-experience blogging content to third-party sites. Those sites, however, cannot use the content commercially.

This move helps athletes be able to stay in contact with everyone back home without having to go to the expense of creating their own site.

Additionally, the IOC explicitly prohibited the use of Olympic logos on athlete blogs.
