Injury Forces Harvard’s Courtney Otto Out of NCAA Championships

PHOENIX, Arizona, March 8. COURTNEY Otto, a standout for the Harvard Crimson, will miss the NCAA championships in two weeks in Indianapolis, a spokesperson for Harvard confirmed today.

Otto, a sophomore at Harvard, is dealing with an unspecified injury, a setback severe enough to keep her from racing the 200 and 400 individual medleys, as well as the 200 butterfly. Otto swam in the semifinals of the 200 fly, placing ninth overall. Her time of 1:56.24 in the 200-yard fly from the Georgia Invite in December was 15th overall on the psych sheet.

Otto joins Stephanie Peacock on the list of swimmers withdrawing from the NCAA meet. As was the case with Peacock, Otto's removal from the meet means an alternate moves in. That alternate is Pitt's Kelsey Herbst, who will be swimming the 1650 freestyle as the 38th seed.
