PHOENIX, Arizona, June 20. OLYMPIANS Jason Lezak and Emily Silver were part of the newest Gold Medal Delivery by SwimOutlet.com, showing up to deliver free goodies to athletes last month at the U.S. Masters Swimming short course nationals in Indianapolis.
Lezak and Silver did more than the typical surprise appearance on the deck at the IU Natatorium. The two teammates at the 2008 Olympics partnered with Masters swimmers Jon Shope and Esmerelda Perez (who was featured earlier this year in a two-part Swimming World article that detailed how swimming helped her weather several rounds of chemotherapy treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma) for an exhibition mixed 200 freestyle relay, with Silver swimming the leadoff leg and Lezak — no surprise here — performing anchor leg duties.
After the relay, the two showed up at the meet social at Victory Field in Indianapolis to give those in attendance a free goodie bag filled with products from USMS sponsors.
But the fun isn't stopping there. Lezak is taking part in a special contest hosted by swimoutlet.com in which fans are invited to submit a unique Lezak-related catchphrase for the chance to win a $100 SwimOutlet.com gift card, a free two-year USMS membership and more.
From the SwimOutlet.com press release:
Lezak will judge a special “Lezak Catchphrase/Internet Meme Contest,” taking place over the next three weeks through July 10, in which the winner with the best Lezak submission will win a $100 SwimOutlet.com gift card, a USMS-branded baseball cap, a two-year USMS membership, and other goodies.
Fans can enter the contest at swimoutlet.com/jason-lezak-memes. Fans will watch the Gold Medal Delivery video and listen for Emily Silver's use of a Lezak catchphrase in the piece. Fans then create and submit their own favorite Lezak Catchphrase Meme on the Gold Medal Delivery mini-site and follow along at #MastersGMD.
After the contest closes on July 10, Lezak will review the submissions and select his favorite as the winner.
