Indiana/Purdue to Be First Swimming and Diving Dual Meet Televised on Big Ten Network

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana, January 11. THANKS to the efforts of the Indiana University Department of Athletics, the Indiana vs. Purdue men and women's swimming and diving dual meet will be shown live on the Big Ten Network on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 11:30 a.m. ET.

It is the first time in Network history that a dual meet will be televised and the first time the BTN will broadcast a swimming event live.

"It is an honor to host the first Big Ten swimming and diving meet televised by the Big Ten Network," said Indiana head swimming coach Ray Looze. "We look forward to this being an annual event which celebrates the excellence of two fine Indiana universities in aquatics."

The meet gets underway at 10 a.m. ET with combined platform diving at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington. The women's 200 medley relay, men's 400 medley relay and 1,000 freestyle for both men and women will take place beginning at 11 a.m. ET. Swimming and diving events occurring before the broadcast goes live at 11:30 a.m. ET will be shown tape-delayed throughout the telecast. The event runs through 2 p.m. ET.

Olympic Gold Medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer Rowdy Gaines will provide commentary, alongside Bernie Guenther, a former University of Florida swimmer.

The Indiana women's swimming and diving team is the three-time defending Big Ten Champion and is ranked eighth in the most recent College Swimming Coaches Association of America top-25. IU's men's squad placed second at last year's Big Ten meet and comes in at No. 10 in the CSCAA Top-25. The Purdue women are ranked 18th, while the men are 20th.
