Idaho vs. Southern California

LOS ANGELES, California, October 30. AMANDA Smith won two events Saturday as the University of Southern California women's swim team beat the University of Idaho Vandals.

Smith, a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, won the 100-yard freestyle (51.72 seconds) and the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 49.66 seconds).

The Trojan women won the dual meet 112-81 at McDonald's Swim Stadium. The team was competing without a number of swimmers who had traveled to Dallas to participate in the Southern Methodist University Invitational.

Other Trojan winners Saturday were Ellie Doran, 1000 Freestyle 10:05.89); Lindsay Parrish, 50 Free (24.47); Jessica Schmitt, 200 Individual Medley (2:03.58); Yumi So, 200 Fly (1:59.80); Andrea Basaraba, 200 Backstroke (2:02.83).

The Trojan women's divers are scheduled to host the USC Diving Invitational next weekend. The swim team's next dual meets will come Friday, Nov. 12 against Arizona, and Saturday, Nov. 13 against Arizona State. Both meets will be held at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
