Ian Thorpe Appeal Dismissed – Thorpedo Will NOT swim the 400 Free in Athens

SYDNEY, Australia, March 27. IAN Thorpe, the reigning Olympic champion and world record-holder over 400 meters freestyle will not be defending his crown in Athens.

A three-person jury of appeal this afternoon dismissed a protest from his club. Under international swimming's strict one-start rule, swimmers have little room for appeal if they dive in too early.
