Hostage, Kinzbach Snag Gold in 16-18 Tower at Speedo Junior Diving

INDIANAPOLIS, July 30. MARGARET Hostage and J.J. Kinzbach closed out the 2006 Speedo Junior National Diving Championships with wins in the 16-18 platform competitions on Sunday.

Hostage won gold in the girls’ event with 440.45 points. She took the lead in the second-to-last round and scored 81.60 points on her final dive, a back 2.5 with 1.5 twists, to extend her margin of victory. Kara Cook won silver with 409.75 points and Katie Bell won bronze with 399.55 points.

Kinzbach won the boys title with 529.90 points. He all but wrapped up the victory in the eighth of nine rounds when he received three 8.5s and three 8s on his reverse 3.5 somersault. The scores put him 35.2 points ahead of his nearest competitor with one round to go. Harrison Jones and Drew Livingston climbed from sixth place after the prelims to the silver and bronze medal positions, with Jones finishing second at 512.05 and Livingston taking third at 479.80.
