BANGOR, Maine, March 13. MEET host Bangor High School won only one event, yet it sent a plethora of women to both consolation and championship finals on its way to a team title in the Maine A women's championship meet. Bangor's 352 points bested second-place Cape Elizabeth High School (291). Scarborough High School placed third with 250 points.

Nora Daly of Cape Elizabeth easily won both of her freestyle events. She claimed the gold medal in both the 200 freestyle (1:57.83) and the 500 freestyle (5:17.15).

Nicole Harmon from Scarborough fended off a fast front half from Jennifer Roberts of SAN in the 100 butterfly and took the gold in a 58.81 time. Harmon also won the 100 backstroke with a final time of 1:01.13.

Perhaps the most impressive swim of the meet came from Brewer High School's Jessica Hodsdon in the 100 breaststroke. Hodsdon swam a decent first 50, but then she turned it up a notch in the second 50 to ensure a win (1:07.78). Hodsdon also took top honors in the 50 freestyle, clocking 25.31.
