Hoff Destroys Two National Age group Records Set by Tracy Caulkins 25 Years Ago

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland, December 19. NORTH Baltimore's Katie Hoff smashed two Girls 15-16 national age group records set by the great Tracy Caulkins a decade before Katie was born to highlight competition thus far at the NBAC Christmas meet.

(The meet is being held this year at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Thus far complete results are not available. We will post them as soon as they become available.)

Hoff went a blazing 1:56.70 in her 200-yard IM last night, breaking Caulkins' record from 1979. Also last night (before the IM), Katie swam 1:46.0 for the 200 free. In the morning session, she went 53.91 for the 100 fly.

Tonight, Katie clocked 4:05.62 in the 400 IM, breaking TC's record from 1979. She split:
fly 56.6
back 1:00.8
breast 1:10.3
free :57.9

This evening she also swam a 23.3 50 free and a 2:12.6 200 breast.

As spectacular as Hoff has been thus far, she has by no means been the only story here. Courtney Kalisz, 14, set a state record in the 1000-yard free (9:57) yesterday and added some other impressive time this weekend so far: 2:02.38 200 IM; 4:16.7 400 IM; 56.2 100 fly; 56.7 100 back (leading off the relay); 2:22.7 200 breast; 4:57 500 free.

Twelve year-old Laura Harris also set a state record, winning the 100 free in 53.33.
