Herasimenia’s Tied World Record in 50 Backstroke Not Ratified

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, February 23. ACCORDING to a report by Craig Lord of SwimNews, the tied world record by Belarus' Aleksandra Herasimenia last year in the 50 backstroke has not been ratified by FINA. The mark, which matched the 28.19 standard originally set by Germany's Janine Pietsch, was not submitted by Belarus for ratification. Herasimenia has previously been suspended for a doping violation and served a two-year drug suspension.
