Heat Sheets Now Available for Day 2 Prelims of FINA World Junior Championships

Heat sheets for day two prelims of the 2017 FINA World Junior Championships are now available! Prelims begin at 9 a.m. EST

Schedule of Events:

  • Men’s 200 IM
  • Women’s 100 Free
  • Men’s 100 Fly
  • Women’s 200 Fly
  • Men’s 200 Free
  • Mixed 400 Medley Relay
  • Women’s 800 Free (slower heats)

Michael Andrew enters as the top seed in the men’s 200 IM with one of two sub-two minute seed times, while Spain’s Hugo Gonzalez enters with the other. There will be seven heats total.

A total of 11 heats will be swum for the women’s 100 free, headlined by Japan’s sprint star Rikako Ikee. She enters with a 53.83, while Great Britain’s Freya Anderson holds the second place seed time with a 53.91.

Butterfly ace and World Junior Record holder Kristof Milak will look to hold his top spot in the men’s 100 fly. He enters with a top seed time of 50.62 and as the only sub-51 second seed. There will be a total of eight heats in contention.

Japan’s Suzuka Hasegawa leads a slim five heats of the women’s 200 fly. Hasegawa, also the World Junior Record holder in this event, enters with a 2:06.29, more than two seconds ahead of the competition.

The nine heats of the men’s 200 free will be headlined by Hungary’s Nandor Nemeth, who anchored Hungary to a gold medal finish in the men’s 400 free relay on night one. Nemeth enters with a time of 1:47.14, almost one full second ahead of the competition.

The session will conclude with the mixed 400 medley relay heats, followed by the slower heats of the women’s 800 free.
