Haylee Knight Doubles in Final Session of Ithaca Sectionals

ITHACA–The final session of the Ithaca Sectionals showed Haylee Knight of the Weymouth Club Waves claiming gold in both the women’s 100 free and 200 IM.

Caroline Bonfield of the Princeton Piranhas continued her distance success in the women’s 1000 free with a winning time of 10:10.01. Natalie Ed of Badger Swim Club, Inc claimed a close second with a time of 10:11.33. Phoenix Aquatic Club’s Amanda Lauer was third with a 10:18.29.

Graham Barrett of the South Shore YMCA Strypers led the pack in the men’s 1650 free with a finishing time of 15:24.80, dropping an astonishing 29.64 seconds from his prelims time. Jack Collins of Badger Swim Club, Inc took second with a time of 15:33.16. Teammate Ian Bidwell finished third in 15:50.35.

Patriot Aquatic Club’s Erin Falconer claimed victory in the women’s 200 back with a time of 1:57.35. Selena Huang, swimming unattached, grabbed second with a 1:58.97, while Quinn Scannell of the YMCA of Greenwich Martins took third in 2:00.19.

Weymouth Club Waves’ Haylee Knight achieved a narrow victory over Falconer in the women’s 100 free. Knight touched with a 50.37 followed closely by Falconer’s 50.56. Mollie Westrick of Kingfish Swimming claimed third with a 51.20.

The men’s 100 free was was led by unattached swimmers Kevin Kreher and Rafael Van Leeuwaarde. Kreher took the win with a 45.29, while Van Leeuwaarde finished second with a close 45.94. Matthew Marsh of Town of Tonawanda Titans Swim was third with a time of 46.01.

Knight succeeded in claiming her second win of the session in the women’s 200 IM with a time of 2:03.25. Caroline Wilson of the Jersey Gators finished close behind with a 2:03.38, while Phoenix Aquatic Club’s Meaghan McGovern took third with a time of 2:07.30.

The men’s 200 IM proved to be a close race with Crimson Aquatic’s Anthony Marcantonio and Dylan Sali, swimming unattached, racing for the gold. Marcantonio managed to out-touch Sali by .14 seconds to finish with a time of 1:46.37. Sali claimed second with a 1:46.51, dropping over eight seconds from his prelims time. Drew Modrov, also swimming unattached, took third with a time of 1:50.16.
