SYDNEY, Australia, November 12. EAMON Sullivan seems to be prospering in his new life as co-host of the Australian game show A League of Their Own, judging by this clip of the Olympic medalist’s brief stint as a gymnast.
Swimmers are never known to be graceful creatures on land, but Sullivan did his best to put down that stereotype in this rhythmic gymnastics routine featuring a hoop. Sullivan’s one-minute performance might not get him an Olympic medal, but it does impress with some daring flips. And we can’t neglect to mention the stylish eye makeup in the Australian green and gold colors. Unfortunately, rhythmic gymnastics is a female-only sport, but Sullivan definitely makes a case for men to join in as well!
Sullivan knows a thing or two about striving for athletic perfection. He was the world record holder in the 100 long course freestyle in 2008, and won the silver medal in the 100 free at the Beijing Games as well as a silver in the 400 medley relay and bronze in the 400 free relay.
Sullivan hosts A League of Their Own with former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash, and the two are joined each week by celebrity guests on each team to perform physical challenges and answer trivia questions. Since the show’s debut on September 16, Olympic swimming medalists Christian Sprenger, Dawn Fraser and Libby Trickett have participated on various episodes along with other sports personalities.
For comparison, here’s Cash’s rhythmic gymnastics routine:
