Hardy Defends 100 Breast Title

By Jason Marsteller

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, March 9. CALIFORNIA's Jessica Hardy defended her 100 breast title with a 59.43 at the women's NCAA Division I Championships. She also became just the sixth swimmer to win multiple titles in the event and gave California its second crown in the event.

Arizona's Annie Chandler provided some outside smoke with a second-place finish from lane 1 with a 1:00.03, while Texas' Elizabeth Tinnon took third in 1:00.32.

The Wildcats lengthened their lead to more than 50 points with a top-total of 308.5 points. Auburn remained second with 255 points, while California sat in third with 207 points. Stanford (193.5) and Georgia (163) completed the rest of the top five.
