NEW WILMINGTON, Pennsylvania, September 24. WESTMINSTER College will open its doors to Brendan Hansen on Saturday, October 1. A three-time Olympic medalist and the world-record holder in the 100 and 200-meter breaststrokes, Hansen will conduct the Ultimate Technique Swim Clinic for swimmers ages eight and older. The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and check-in begins at 9 a.m.
Hansen has been an internationally known breaststroker since 1999, when he competed at the World Short Course Championships in Hong Kong as a high school student at Haverford High in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Hansen will demonstrate stroke technique, address mental preparation and overcoming adversity and discuss dryland training. He’ll also discuss becoming an Olympic medalist and will be accompanied by one of his Olympic medals.
Hansen enjoyed a sterling collegiate stint at the University of Texas, where he posted career sweeps of the 100 and 200 breast events at the NCAA Championships. Hansen helped the Longhorns to NCAA team crowns during his freshman and sophomore campaigns. He’s also a world-record holder as a member of the United States 400 medley relay.
Registration is $60 per swimmer. Each registered swimmer will receive an autograph, an event swim cap, clinic entry and group instruction from the fastest breaststroker in history and one of the best swimmers in the world. Space is limited to the first 150 swimmers, but parents and coaches are welcome for free.
