Haley Yelle Wins 1500 Free to Continue Distance Dominance on Final Night of Mt. Hood Futures Champs

The Mt. Hood Futures Championship concluded today in Gresham, Oregon with swimmers finishing the four day meet with continually impressive swims. Haley Yelle had one of the most dominant swims of the evening, dominating the women’s 1500-meter freestyle by 22 seconds. Her win secured her triple crown in the 400-800-1500 races. Kendall Brown followed to post a time of 17:11.99. Amanda Barnes followed closely behind with a 17:12.62.

Earlier in the evening in the women’s 100-meter freestyle, Lauren Moden held on for the win, throwing down a 57.05 to secure first place. She was followed by Mikeala Dahlke who was just behind with a close 57.21. The bronze went to Lauren Green who posted a 57.70.

In the men’s 100-meter freestyle, Simon Pheasant added another victory to his sprinting prowess after his win in the 50-meter freestyle earlier in the meet. Pheasant posted a 51.39 to outtouch Liam O’Haimhirgin’s effort of 51.54. They were followed by Dillon Williams who was third in 51.59.

The women’s 200-meter back went to Elsa Litteken who was 2:18.54. She was followed by Loree Olson who finished in a time of 2:19.45. Joanna Curry was third in 2:20.47.

The men’s 200-meter back was dominated by Brendan Barry who was 2:05.66. In second Tyler Lis finished in a time of 2:06.85. Jack Murphy was third in 2:07.45.

Shane Forker followed up his victory in the 1500 freestyle in the men’s 800-meter freestyle with a time of 8:20.50. Marc Morizono was second, finishing in 8:23.69, while Eric Fierro was third in 8:24.24.

In the final individual event of the evening, Jordan Anderson won the women’s 200-meter IM in a time of 2:20.98. Laura Laderoute was second in 2:21.25, and Lauren Green followed in a close third, posting a 2:21.83.

Bradley Cline and Keltan Lawler battled throughout the entire men’s 200-meter IM with Cline ultimately touching the wall first in a time of 2:04.67. He was followed by Lawler who finished in 2:04.83. Both men were under the Olympic Trials qualifying time. Michael White was third in 2:06.06.

The meet wrapped up with a close race in the women’s 400-meter medley relay. Strong swims from the Tualatin Hills Swim Club’s team of Sofia Nosack (1:06.86) Blaise Wittenauer-Lee (1:11.78) Caitlyn Wilson (1:06.11) and Alysha Bush (57.15) secured the win in a time of 4:21.90. Second place went to the Marine Pirates’s team of Cali Raukar (1:05.49) Claire Beaty (1:14.32) Sophia Dal Porto (1:04.89) and Madeleine Salesky (57.73) for a time of 4:22.43. The David Arden Racing Team’s group of Joanna Curry (1:06.60) Halladay Kinsey (1:15.75) Elizabeth Menzmer (1:02.86) and Claire Pinson (57.49) for a time of 4:22.70.

On the men’s side, the Los Angeles Swim Club’s team of Colin Lynch (58.26) John Copses (1:06.40) Yoessef Tibazi (55.01) John Chu (53.41) secured the win in a time of 3:53.08. North Bay Aquatics’s group of Bradley Cline (58.71) Aidan Cumming (1:06.82) Sheldon Boboff (57.51) and Nicholas Bigot (51.31) were second in 3:54.35. In third, Orinda Aquatic’s group of Cole Stevens (58.91) Dominic Baldwin (1:07.31) Jolen Griffin (55.32) and Talbot Jacobs (53.29) came together for a time of 3:54.83.
