Germany’s Yanick Lebherz Set for Duel in the Pool

POTSDAM, Germany, October 10. GERMANY’S Yannick Lebherz is joining the European All-Star squad for the upcoming Duel in the Pool, using his middle-distance prowess to counter the star power of Team USA in Glasgow this December.

“I received an invitation and of course immediately agreed,” Lebherz told German website swimsportnews.com. “It is an honor to represent the continent.”

Lebherz ranks 13th in the world in the long course 200 backstroke, posting a 1:56.71 at the German national championships in April. Though he had qualified fifth after the 200 back prelims at world championships, he was unable to advance to the finals, posting the 11th-fastest time in the semifinals with a 1:57.71.

He also placed 11th in the 400 IM at worlds in Barcelona with a 4:16.23, well off his national record swim of 4:12.47 that ranks him 14th in the world.

Lebherz spent some time after the London Olympics training in Florida, but is reportedly back in Germany preparing for racing in December.
