Georgia Tech At Day Two Of Tech Invitational

ATLANTA, Georgia, November 17. THE second day of action at the Georgia Tech Swimming and Diving Invitational is in the books and the Tech men sit in fourth place with 446 points, while the women have 277 points which is good for sixth. Christine Chuang and Agatha Kwasnik each swam NCAA B-cut times for the Jackets in the 100-yard fly and 200-yard free, respectively. The men were steady all night with several top five finishes highlighted by the 200-yard medley relay winning team of Jason Bourgeois, Mickey Malul, Onur Uras and Mauricio Sousa.

The second day of action began with the 200-yard medley and the Tech women's team of Ryann Kopacka, Lisa Pucci, Christine Chuang and Agatha Kwasnik finished in a time of 1:46.43 for 24 points. Caroline Jones, Thea Kromer, Vida Jemec and Katherine Locker finished in 1:50.57 for six points.

Chuang turned in a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly as she recorded a NCAA B-cut time of 55.12 and gave Tech 17 points. Then in the 200-yard freestyle, Kwasnik claimed a third-place finish of 1:49.72 which was also good for a NCAA B-cut and 16 Tech points. Jing Li gave the Jackets seven points in the same event with a time of 1:52.38.

The 100-yard backstroke saw Kwasnik and Kopacka combine for seven points.

In the 800-yard freestyle, the team of Li, Taylor Flynn, Elizabeth Stowe and Kwasnik finished fifth in a time of 7:34.68, good for 28 points. Locker, Caiti Lewis, Katie Wright and Jones also earned eight points in the event as they finished in 7:52.22.

The 200-yard medley relay began the second day for the men and Georgia Tech scored its first top finish of the weekend. The team of Jason Bourgeois, Mickey Malul, Onur Uras and Mauricio Sousa finished in 1:29.74 for 40 points.

In the men's 400-yard IM, Jeff Burton finished in 4:04.91 for seven points, while Ralph Long was right behind earning five points (4:06.79). The 100-yard butterfly saw Jason Bourgeois (49.45) and Onur Uras (49.70) finish third and fourth, respectively for a combined 29 points.

The Jackets kept up the momentum in the 200-yard freestyle as Uras finished second in a time of 1:40.09 for 17 points while Noah Copeland was fourth as he touched the wall in 1:41.42. The next event saw another Yellow Jacket second-place finish as Malul finished the 100-yard breaststroke in 55.60 for 17 points.

The men's 100-yard backstroke saw Bourgeois finish third in a time of 50.50, good for 16 points. Right behind him was teammate Johnny Hagaman with 13 points (51.40). Tang also finished in the top eight as he touched the wall in 51.73, good for 11 Tech points. The 800-yard freestyle relay closed out the evening and the team of Copeland, Sousa, Garrett Robberson and Uras finished fourth in a time of 6:49.02, which accounted for 30 points.

In the diving events, Hannah Krimm finished second for the Tech women as she scored 17 points (307.40). Meanwhile, Stephanie England was fifth with a combined score of 269.10 and 14 points to the Jackets. Evan Stowers gave the Tech men 13 points after his score of 302.55.
