Georgia Sweeps Kentucky

ATHENS, Georgia, October 28. THE Georgia swimming and diving teams swept Kentucky at Gabrielsen Natatorium on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0 SEC) topped the Wildcats 293.5-185.5, while the Lady Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1) won their 51st straight dual meet at home by a score of 293.5-170.5.

"I am really happy with both teams today," Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. "They did really great, especially after such a quick turnaround (from Thursday's meet at Florida). It was a good win for the kids."

Sebastien Rouault was a triple winner for the Bulldogs, taking the 1,000 freestyle in 9:35.44, the 200 free in 1:38.70 and the 200 butterfly in 1:49.67. Nathan Bibliowicz won the 200 IM and the 500 free with times of 1:52.10 and 4:37.85, respectively.

Gil Stovall, Michael Cellini, Bibliowicz and Cameron Hollinger opened the meet by placing first in the 200 medley relay in 1:30.79. Cellini stopped the clock first with a time of 20.61 in the 50 free. With a time of 45.63, Joe Smutz placed first in the 100 free. In 1-meter diving, Genya Gouzeev won with a score of 336.30. Webb Worthington took the 3-meter title with 348.90 points. Stovall touched first with a time of 1:48.44 in the 200 backstroke.

For the Lady Bulldogs, Melissa Klein placed first in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:17.09. Kelly McNichols won the 200 free in 1:48.77. In the 200 IM, Lisa Caprioglio touched first in 2:06.31. Kristen Frost placed first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:04.57.

Kara Lynn Joyce won the 500 free in 4:51.89. Lauren Groblewski stopped the clock first with a time of 2:02.46 in the 200 back. The 200 free relay team of McNichols, Jessica Cole, Anne-Marie Botek and Joyce was first in 1:34.32.
