Georgia Fall Invitational Day One

ATHENS, Georgia, November 30. THE Georgia swimming and diving teams recorded four NCAA automatic qualifying times in the Georgia Fall Invitational at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

The Lady Bulldogs got A cuts from Kelsey Ditto and Chelsea Nauta in the 500-yard freestyle and from Courtney Monsees in the 200-yard individual medley. The Bulldogs' Troyden Prinsloo posted his A cut in the 500-yard freestyle.

"I definitely feel good after the first day," Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. "I was hoping for some A cuts, and we got four. We are more concerned with good swims right now, but if we get to win the meet, that is even better."

After the first day of competition, both Georgia teams have the lead. The Lady Bulldogs have 358 points, ahead of Virginia's 295. The Bulldogs rolled up 324 points, outdistancing Northwestern's 220.

Ditto finished in 4:41.72 and Nauta touched with a 4:42.69 in the 500-yard free. Monsees took first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:00.14.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the meet by placing first in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Anne-Marie Botek, Lauren English, Jessica Cole and Monsees posted a time of 1:31.77. Botek won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.75. Georgia also took the 400-yard medley relay as Aleksandra Putra, Mhyria Miller, Lisa Caprioglio and Monsees touched in 3:40.52.

Prinsloo took the 500-yard freestyle in 4:14.73. The Bulldogs claimed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Craig Jennings, Gil Stovall, Nathan Bibliowicz and Martin Kata recorded an effort of 1:21.49. Chris Colwill finished first on the 3-meter springboard with a score of 451.55 points.
