Gemma Spofforth Breaks Nose, Toe After Biking Accident

GAINESVILLE, Florida, August 27. ACCORDING to her Twitter account, British world champion Gemma Spofforth broke her nose and a toe after a biking accident.

Last night, Spofforth sent a series of tweets updating her followers about the accident:

– Hey tweeps! Just chilling in the er after falling of my bike and breaking my nose!
– Doing much better just a broken toe and broken nose!
– Doing much better!! Keeping me in over night incase I have a concussion… 15 stitches, broken toe and broken nose…

She also posted a pair of images illustrating the damage, #1 and #2.

Spofforth won the women's 100 back world title in 2009, and is an Olympic medalist contender for Great Britain heading into the 2012 London Olympics. She swam for Great Britain at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and took fourth in the 100 back and ninth in the 200 back.
