Gator Swim Club Summer Invite: Elizabeth Beisel, Charlie Houchin Earn Second Wins of the Meet

GAINESVILLE, Florida, June 4. CHARLIE Houchin and Elizabeth Beisel each picked up their second win of the meet, while Bolles School's Ryan Murphy upset Ryan Lochte in the 100 back to highlight the second night of swimming in Gainesville.

Murphy, 16, outraced Ryan Lochte in the men's 100 back, 54.98 to 55.30. Murphy has been steadily inching his way into contention for a spot on the US Olympic team that will be decided in just three weeks. Ben Hesen of Pace took third in 56.27.

Katie Hoff of T2 out-swam Bluefish's Elizabeth Beisel in the women's 200 IM, finishing in 2:13.37. Beisel touched three seconds back in 2:16.38. Hoff's top time this year is a 2:12.95 from the Austin Grand Prix in January.

The women's 50 free went to Patriot Aquatics' Sarah Bateman, who finished in 25.91. Erika Erndl of T2 finished right behind in 25.93, followed by T2's Elizabeth Pelton in 26.49.

Elizabeth Beisel picked up her second win of the meet in the 400 free with a solid 4:15.54. Gator Swim Club's Jamie Bohunicky swam a 4:16.00 for second while Daytona Beach's Kendal Casey placed third (4:18.79).

Charlie Houchin, swimming unattached, dominated the men's 400 free with a 3:50.49, just off his fastest time of 2012, 3:50.11. Peter Vanderkaay finished a distant second in 3:59.90 while Sarasota YMCA's Alexander Katz swam a 4:00.19 for third.

In the men's 200 IM, Gator Swim Club's Dan Wallace just out-touched Blue Dolfins' Jason Coombs, 2:07.07 to 2:07.09. Santo Condorelli of Bolles School won the men's 50 free in 23.80, ahead of Patriot Aquatics' Bradley deBorde (23.96). Gator Swim Club's Stephanie Proud collected a win in the opening event of the night, the women's 100 back. She finished in 1:02.15, in front of Brandon Sports' Maddie Hess (1:03.84) and Sarasota's Ashlee Linn (1:04.82).
