Garrone, De Giovanni Set national Marks on Final Day of Argentina SC Champs

SANTA FE, Argentina, July 7. The four-day Argentina National Short Courese Championships finished with a bang today, as two individual records fell on the final day of competition.

Maria Garrone blasted the national standard in the 400m free with a 4:15.99, but she had to battle 17 year-old Cecilia Biagioli all the way. Biagioli touched in 4:16.73, just missing the old mark of 4:16.67, but she set a national junior mark with her swim.

Breaststroker Agustina De Giovanni smashed the 100 IM record with a 1:05.11 performance, smashing the old mark of 1:05.56. Earlier, she had set national marks in the 50 and 100m breaststroke. Tonight, her 2:32 for the 200 breast was only a seconbd off the record.

Jose Meolans completed his sweep of the men's sprints, taking the 50 in 22.29 to defeat Pabloa Abal at 22.59.

National marks were also set in the men's 400m medley relay and the women's 800m free relay.
