Garcia Places Fourth on Platform at FINA Grand Prix

HE WOODLANDS, Texas, May 11. Auburn junior Caesar Garcia placed fourth on the platform with a score of 400.32 as competition closed out at the FINA Grand Prix Diving Championships on Sunday.

Garcia, who was the 2002-2003 NCAA champion on the platform, and was the only American to reach the finals. Robert Newberry of Australia won the event with a 480.00 while Mexico's Rommel Pacheco scored a 461.82 to finish second.

Garcia will next compete in the Torneo Internacional de Clavados in Juarez City, Mexico, from May 15-18. Auburn's Head Diving Coach Jeff Shaffer is the men's team head coach, since this event is a stop for the Can-Am-Mex diving series. Results from throught the series can be viewed at:
