French International Meet: Yannick Agnel, Hugues Duboscq Post World Best Times

NANCY, France, March 13. A day after Fred Bousquet put on a show at the French International Meet held in Nancy, France, Yannick Agnel and Hugues Duboscq both posted best times in the world thus far this year.

Agnel clocked the swiftest time in the world this year in the men's 200 free with a 1:46.83. He just missed Amaury Leveaux's French record of 1:46.54 set in 2008. He beat Tae Hwan Park's top time this year of 1:46.98 set in February. Guillaume Strohmeyer finished second in 1:50.47, while Antton Haramboure placed third in 1:51.51.

Duboscq turned in the best time in the world this year with a 28.13 in the men's 50 breast. That swim clipped the previous best mark of 28.16 set by Hendrik Feldwehr at the Great Britain vs. Germany Duel in the Pool in February. Spain's Melquiades Alvarez Caraballo placed second in 29.08, while David Maitre took third in 29.17.

Camille Muffat moved up to fifth in the world this year with a 1:58.96 in the women's 200 free. That swim put her among Federica Pellegrini (1:58.13), Blair Evans (1:58.51), Dana Vollmer (1:58.62) and Bronte Barratt (1:58.67) as sub-1:59 swimmers so far. The Netherlands' Inge Dekker took second in 2:00.61, while Ophelie-Cyrielle Etienne grabbed her second podium with a third-place 2:02.07.

Earlier, Etienne won the women's 800 free in 8:41.43, a time that moved her up to seventh fastest in the world thus far this year. Ophelie Aspord placed second in 8:52.78, while Aurelie Deletang took third in 8:54.40.

Spain's Mireia Belmonte Garcia finished first in the women's 200 fly with a 2:11.15, while Aurore Mongel earned second in 2:11.24. Both times are among the top 10 in the world this year. Lea Giraudon touched third in 2:13.26. Thomas Vilaceca topped the men's 200 fly in 2:00.52. Jordan Coelho (2:02.37) and Romain Sassot (2:03.63) completed the top three.

Alexianne Castel cruised in the women's 100 back with a winning time of 1:01.92, while Spain's Aina Conca Rafuza placed second in 1:04.59. Sophie De Ronchi tied Ane Saseta Estebanez for third with matching 1:05.71s. Jeremy Stravius earned the men's 100 back title in 54.77, while Spain's Juan Miguel Rando Galvez pocketed second in 55.88. Alexis Cabrol rounded out the podium in 57.35.

Spain's Mireia Belmonte Garcia captured the women's 400 IM title in 4:44.15. Lara Grangeon placed second in 4:51.51, while Greece's Stella Boumi touched third in 4:52.72. Ganesh Pedurand claimed the men's 400 IM in 4:27.55, while Tunisia's Taki M'Rabet finished second in 4:31.76. Spain's Alan Cabello Forns wound up third in 4:33.41. Spain's Concepcion Badillo Diaz paced the women's 50 breast in 32.61, while De Ronchi took second in 32.91. Fanny Babou placed third in 33.25.
