Franklin & Marshall vs. Washington

LANCASTER, Pennsylvania, November 19. HOST Franklin & Marshall had the top time in 10 of 11 events en route to a 119-57 win over visiting Washington College on Friday night at the Kunkel Aquatic Center on Friday night in Centennial Conference men's swimming action. The Diplomats improve to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Shoremen drop to 0-4 and 0-2 respectively.

Junior Austin Auger (McLean, VA/Langley) won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.44. The 200 freestyle relay team of junior Nick Longworth (Media, PA/Strath Haven), sophomore A.J. Feurer (Kingsville, MD/Archbishop Curley), junior Johnny Helenek (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg) and senior Tim Beadell (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) captured the first place points with a time of 1:37.79

The 200 medley relay team of Longworth, Auger, senior Matt Violette (Westbrook, ME/Westbrook) and Beadell placed second in the relay with a time of 1:44.38.

Longworth was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.52.

Visiting Washington College had the top finisher in seven of 11 events, but it was not enough as host Franklin & Marshall prevailed by a 116-88 score at the Kunkel Aquatic Center in Centennial Conference women's swimming action. The Diplomats improve to 3-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference, while the Shorewomen fall to 3-2 and 1-2 respectively.

Washington won both relays in the meet. The 200 medley relay team of freshman Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales), junior Jenna Moore (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales), sophomore Alix Batesko (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) and freshman Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) won the event with a time of 1:54.63. In the other relay, the 200 freestyle relay, the squad of Miskiel, junior Ellen Liebenow (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge), sophomore Sarah Sykes (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) and Badger took the event with a time of 1:43.81, a season-best for WC.

Senior Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Silverbrook) won three events on the evening as she took first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.59, the 100 butterfly in 1:00.85 and the 500 freestyle with a WC season-best time of 5:09.92.

Moore won the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke as she recorded a season-best times of 25.01 and 1:08.61 respectively.

The Shorewomen had one second place finish, but it was good enough for a WC all-time top ten spot in the 100 freestyle. Miskiel had a time of 55.75 which was good enough for ninth all-time in the history of Shorewomen swimming in the 100 freestyle.
