Florida Women Add Two More Recruits

GAINESVILLE, Florida, November 24. THE Florida women's swimming and diving team rounded out its 2010 recruiting class by inking Molly Dubrasky (Estero, Fla.) and Savannah Napier (Chattanooga, Tenn.) to National Letters of Intent, head coach Gregg Troy announced Wednesday. The signatures bring the Gator women's total incoming freshmen class to seven.

"The additions of Molly and Savannah really solidify our class as a whole," Troy said. "To be able to acquire them at the last minute was another victory for our program."

Dubrasky joins the Gators from Estero High School, where the senior captain recently finished her high school career with three All-America honors and five state championships, including three consecutive state titles in the 500 free and two consecutive state titles in the 200 free. Dubrasky, who trains with the Gulf Coast Swim Team under head coach Don Henshaw, is CollegeSwimming.com's No. 3 rated women's swimmer in the state of Florida. Dubrasky is the only female swimmer in the history of Estero High to have won a state championship. On the national scene, Dubrasky is a senior national qualifier and a junior national finalist.

"Molly was a last-minute addition," Troy said. "We were a little bit lucky. She was a state champion in the 200 and 500 freestyle – an All-American in both of them. She's very tall and has tremendous abilities. We were very fortunate at the eleventh hour to get her."

Napier joins the Orange and Blue from the Baylor School, where she trains with the Baylor Swim Club under head coach Dan Flack. Napier is the younger sister of former UF eight-time All-American Stephanie Napier, who helped Florida win a national championship last season as a member of the championship 200 free relay squad. The younger Napier has had relay success of her own, achieving All-America status and winning the 2010 state championship in the 400 free relay. Napier also finished fifth in the 200 free and sixth in the 500 free at this year's state meet. Nationally, the Chattanooga, Tenn., native competed in the 2009 and 2010 Southern Zone Championships, setting the meet record in the 400 IM and winning the event both years.

"She's another talented medley swimmer who is a distance freestyler that comes from a really quality family," Troy said. "She will add some depth to our distance group, and is also versatile enough to help us in the relays."

Florida will break for Thanksgiving before returning to action Dec. 2-4 at the 2010 AT&T Short Course National Championships at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion on the campus of Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. One day after the start of nationals, a contingent of Gators will head to Princeton University for the Tigers' Big Al Open, held Dec. 3-5.
