Florida Atlantic Women Pick Up Two Wins in Four Team Meet; Defending Sun Belt Champs Western Kentucky Gets Three

BOCA RATON, FL, October 25. Florida Atlantic University's women's swimming team reported that it hosted Sun Belt members Western Kentucky and Florida International along with the University of North Florida Saturday morning at FAU Pool.

The Lady Owls came away with victories over FIU and UNF but fell to the 2003 Sun Belt Champion, WKU.

Freshman, Shawna Griffith paced the Lady Owls with three first place finishes. She won the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.12), 500 free (5:09.04) and the 200 fly (2:04.34) all in season-best times.

Sophomore Geni Burts also swam well for FAU. She won the 200 IM in a time of 2:07.09, a season-best. Burts also placed second in the 200 fly (2:06.80) behind Griffith and was third in the 200 back (2:.08.85).

The 200 free relay tam of Krista Norkus, Jessica Lampkin, Kristy Gmeiner and Valeria Dalmastro won the event in 1:39.59.
