Florida Action Concludes at Speedo International Age Group Invite

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida, June 24. ACTION at the Speedo International Age Group Invitational concluded on Sunday after two more nights of solid long course meter competition in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Carly Lyons (2:23.57) and Guy Barnea (2:05.32) won the open 200 backstroke events with Barnea holding off Bradley Ally (2:05.50) for the title. Meanwhile, Jessica Hardy (31.79) and Ricky Barbosa (29.91) nabbed the 50 breast crowns.

In the 200 butterfly events, Julianne Lago touched in 2:20.31 for the win, while Ally overcame the 200 back loss with a time of 2:05.33 for the win. Olympian Rhi Jeffrey dropped her meet record in the 100 free with a time of 56.20, while another Olympian Milorad Cavic won a loaded men's 100 free heat with a 50.78. George Bovell (50.85), Dominik Meichtry (50.98) and Nathan Adrian (51.46) each provided Cavic' main competition in the event.

Yesterday, Amy Prestinario topped the women's 200 IM in 2:21.68, while Ally claimed the men's 200 IM in 2:05.42. Additionally, Janelle Slattery hit the wall first in 31.13 in the 50 back, while Barnea won the men's event in 27.07.

In the 100 breaststroke heats, Hardy easily bested the field in 1:09.13, while Ally defeated Barbosa, 1:03.84 to 1:04.73. In other action, Jeffrey won again, with a time of 1:02.61 in the 100 fly while Cavic touched in 53.79 to beat Adrian (55.29) and Ally (55.71) in the men's 100 fly.

In the final individual event of Saturday, Chelsea Nauta eased in with a time of 4:19.27 in the 400 free to claim victory, while Meichtry headlined the men's field in 3:57.70.
