Flori Lang Lowers Swiss Record in 50 Back at Swiss National Championships

ZURICH, Switzerland, May 11. DURING the second day of competition at the Swiss National Long Course Championships held in Zurich, Switzerland from May 10-13, Flori Lang lowered his 50 back national standard to 25.34. That effort eclipsed his previous standard of 25.71 set on March 28, 2003 in Zurich.

Men's 200 freestyle
After taking silver in the 400 last night, David Karasek came back with a gold-medal time of 1:52.20 in the 200. Christian Schneiter took silver in 1:53.34, while Aurelien Kuenzi snared bronze in 1:54.52.

Women's 200 freestyle
Flavia Rigamonti eased into a gold medal with a time of 2:02.94, well in front of second-place finisher Swann Oberson's 2:04.41. Laila Werner wound up with bronze in 2:06.35.

Men's 50 backstroke
Lang's national-standard 25.34 earned him gold, while Ralph Madoerin picked up silver in 27.16. Adrien Perez nabbed bronze in 27.42.

Women's 50 backstroke
Tamara Rangelov claimed the women's 50 back title in 30.79, while Laura Noccioli took home silver in 31.07. Virginia Schumacher clocked a 31.42 for bronze.

Men's 100 breaststroke
Dimitri Waeber edged Rene Kolonko for the 100 breaststroke title. Waeber got his hand to the wall in 1:04.47, while Kolonko touched in 1:04.73. Benjamin Le Maguet finished third in 1:04.83.

Women's 100 breaststroke
Patrizia Humplik touched in 1:12.79 to earn the title. Meanwhile, Ramona Pedretti (1:13.02) and Celine Baillod (1:14.10) finished second and third, respectively.

Men's 200 butterfly
Simon Oberholzer hit the wall in 2:03.57 to win the gold, while Stephan Bachmann placed second in 2:04.02. Christian Reber rounded out the podium with a 2:06.32 for bronze.

Women's 200 butterfly
Martina van Berkel closed out the second day of swimming with a title-winning 2:19.32. Meanwhile, Maria Ugolkova took silver in 2:21.24 and Senata Wagner pocketed bronze in 2:21.45.
