Florent Manaudou And Charlotte Bonnet Win Big At French Nationals

DIJON, France, November 8. AFTER a rather disappointing world championships this summer in Barcelona, Spain, Olympic Champion Florent Manaudou seems to be back to old strengths by winning five titles at French Nationals.

In both the 100m IM and the 100m freestyle, Manaudou also posted the number one time of the year with a 50.96 and 45.04 respectively. The time of the 100m freestyle remained just one tenth of a second short of the current world record held by Amaury Leveaux. Manaudou’s winning times in the 50m butterfly, a 22.11, was the second fastest time of the year. In addition, he set a new French record in the 50m freestyle with a time of 20.79 yesterday, only to break it again today by posting a split time of 20.62 in the first leg of the 4x50m freestyle relay, which also makes him second fastest this year. He also won a national title as part of the 4x50m medley relay alongside Camille Lacourt, Gregory Mallet and Fabien Gilot.

On the women’s side, Charlotte Bonnet won a total of five titles. She swam to the victory in the 200m IM with a time of 2:08.65, 100m freestyle (53.19), 100m IM (1:00.08). She also won as part of the 4x50m freestyle relay who set a new French record with the time of 1:40.09 with her teammates Chloe Hache, Camille Muffat and Anna Santamans. Her team Olympic Nice Natation also set a new French record in the 4X50m medley relay at a time of 1:49.88 with Camille Muffat, Bonnet, Marie Wattel and Anna Santamas. Bonnet also won a silver medal in the 200m freestyle with a time of 1:53.82, closely behind Camille Muffat who hit the wall at 1:53.80. Bonnet’s medal count is completed with a third place finish in the 400m freestyle where she finished at 4:01.44 after winner Coralie Balmy (4:01.00) and second placed Camille Muffat (4:01.35).
