Flash! Michael Phelps Sets American Record in 200 Yard Fly

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland, March 7. SUPERSTAR Michael Phelps was on point at the Maryland State Championships held in Annapolis, as he clipped his American record in the men's 200-yard fly. Phelps clocked a scorching time of 1:39.65 to lower his previous national mark of 1:39.70 set at the 2006 American Short Course Championships.

Earlier this weekend, Phelps set a lifetime best in the men's 200-yard IM with a time of 1:40.58. That time came up short of Ryan Lochte's American record of 1:40.08. He also turned in a time of 3:39.01 in the men's 400-yard IM.
