Fischer Sets Second mark at South American Champs

BELEM DO PARA, Brazil, March 15. BRZAIL'S Eduardo Aquiles Fischer struck again this morning, notching his second South American record in two days while competing at the South American Championships Long Course Championships in Belem Do Para, Brazil. The finals are being held in the morning, as the meet is being broadcast live on Brazilian TV.

Fischer, from Joinville (Santa Catarina, Brazil) and coached by Ricardo Carvalho, stole the show again winning the 50 meters breastroke with a new South
American record. He clocked 28.58 to erase his former standard of 28.80 set in Fukuoka (Japan), July 27 2001.
Yesterday, Fischer sliced 1/100th of a second off his 100 meter mark, clocking 1:02.43.

In the women's races, Argentinian Georgina Bardach, coached by Hector Sosa in Academia Natacion Bucor, added two more golds to her collection. Yesterday she won the 200 IM with a Championship and national record. Today she set two Championship records and one national mark.

First she went 2:19.68 for the 200 meter back (CR and NR), then she won the 400 IM in 4:53.43 (CR).
