St. Kitts Yacht Club Peninsula Swim

SOUTH FRIARS BAY – 46 swimmers gathered Saturday morning Nov. 22 at 7:30 a.m. for the first St. Kitts Yacht Club Peninsula Swim. The swim was from Salt Plage at Whitehouse Bay to ShipWreck Beach Bar at South Friars Bay.

After being transported to Salt Plage in buses donated by Ternion St Kitts, the swimmers were accompanied by 12 kayakers along with a safety boat provided by Blue Water Safaris and a boat from the St Kitts Coast Guard.

The first swimmer completed the 1.9 miles swim in just under one hour and the last swimmer arrived half an hour later.

The swim was followed by a breakfast and a prize giving ceremony.

Organizers seek to promote all water sports in St. Kitts with the idea that good swimmers make good sailors!

The organizers plan to hold several swims in the upcoming years. Proceeds from this swim will benefit the St Kitts youth sailing program.

The St Kitts Yacht Club would like to thank the sponsors of the event including ShipWreck Beach Bar for the use of their facilities and everyone who came out to participate or volunteer their time, especially the Ross University Swim Club.
