FINA World Men’s Youth Water Polo Champs Kick Off This Weekend

LASUANNE, Switzerland, August 1. ISTANBUL, Turkey will play host to the 2nd FINA World Men’s Youth Water Polo Championships (18 & Under), organised from August 2-10, 2014. A total 20 teams will meet on the international water polo stage. 

The groups are divided as follows:  

Group A: Kazakhstan, Spain, Hungary, USA and Egypt
Group B: Australia, Iran, Argentina, Montenegro and Japan
Group C: Brazil, Italy, South Africa, Turkey and Russia
Group D: New Zealand, Serbia, Croatia, Canada and Peru

The competition schedule is the following:

August 2-6, 2014: preliminary round
August 7, 2014: qualification round 
August 8, 2014: quarter final round
August 9, 2014: semi final round
August 10, 2014: final round

At the first-ever edition of the FINA World Men’s Youth Water Polo Championships in Perth, Australia in 2012, the Italian squad finished on top, while Hungary and Serbia placed second and third, respectively.
