FINA World Cup, Tokyo: Earthquake Wakes Up Assembled Swimmers Shortly Before Day Two Prelims

TOKYO, Japan, November 9. SWIMMERS in attendance at the Tokyo stop of the FINA World Cup just had the experience of a lifetime as a 5.5 earthquake hit the city just a bit ago.

Plenty of swimmers took to Twitter to vent their nerves from the experience.

Woah! That was a scary earth quake! I looked my window to see if the city was still there only to see a bunch of people doing the same— George Bovell (@GeorgeBovell) November 9, 2013

Update: it was a 5.5 on the Richter scale.— Corey Okubo (@okubocorey) November 9, 2013

Just experienced an earthquake here in Tokyo. Thought the hotel was gonna collapse… Think I’m awake for the heats of day 2! #adrenaline— Inge Dekker (@dekker_inge) November 9, 2013

Just woke up to a 5.5 earthquake here in Tokyo. Definitely not pushing snooze on that alarm— Roland Schoeman (@Rolandschoeman) November 9, 2013
