LAUSANNE, Switzerland, April 28. YULIYA Efimova, the Russian breaststroke star who tested positive for the drug dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), has had her hearing in front of the FINA Anti-Doping Panel according to Russian media reports. A ruling is expected to be announced later after FINA has the chance for a complete due diligence with new information provided during the meeting.

Efimova, a world champion in the 50 and 200 breaststroke last summer, tested positive and has been on a provisional suspension since January 24.

“At the meeting, Yuliya Efimova brought a lawyer from the United States, where she trains,” Russian Swimming Federation president Vlad Salnikov said. “We also attended with a representative from the Russian side and an interpreter. The meeting lasted almost the whole day, but as I was informed, the decision will be announced later.”

Efimova’s positive test happened in Oct. 2013.
