Fellow Bulldogs Chase Kalisz, Nic Fink Latest Team USA Swimmers to Accept Invites to Duel in the Pool

ATHENS, Georgia, September 25. TWO more swimmers have accepted invitations to compete at the Team USA vs. European All Stars Duel in the Pool taking place in December as Georgia Bulldogs Chase Kalisz and Nic Fink are both going to appear in the competition.

Kalisz, known as the Future of the 400 IM for Team USA, is definitely on the rise after earning silver in the 400-meter IM at the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona this summer. Without having to worry about any of the Asian swimmers competing in the Duel in the Pool, Kalisz is going to be a heavy favorite in his pet event at the meet scheduled to be held at the Tollcross International Swimming Center, the home of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, in Glasgow, Scotland. Kalisz also has some short course chops, having captured the 400-yard IM NCAA title as a freshman at Georgia.

“It’s a huge honor any time I get to represent the United States, and going through the whole process with Nic as a teammate and being able to represent UGA is equally meaningful,” Kalisz told Swimming World. “It should be a great meet and a good short course tune up before NCAAs.”

Fellow Bulldog Fink will also compete for Team USA at the short course meter meet scheduled to take place Dec. 20-21. Fink had a breakout year this year, having taking second in the 100-meter breaststroke at U.S. Nationals to earn a spot on the Barcelona roster. Fink went on to take eighth in the event at Worlds with a 1:00.10.

Complete rosters for the meet will come out in early November.

For those in the States who want to watch the event, NBC will produce a two-hour show to be broadcast on Sunday, Dec. from 4-6 p.m. ET
