Evan White And Maddie Hart Receive Big Ten Swimmer of the Week Honors

The Big Ten Conference announced its swimmers and divers of the week with Michigan’s Evan White and Penn State’s Maddie Hart taking home the weekly honors. Michigan, Iowa and Penn State took home the honors for this week.

Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Evan White, Michigan, Senior

  • Won the 100-yard IM (49.33) and took second in the 100-yard breaststroke (54.42) in a dual-meet against Michigan State
  • Recorded an NCAA B Standard qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke
  • The 2016-17 Academic All-Big Ten honoree earns his second career Swimmer of the Week honor and the second of the season
  • Last Michigan Swimmer of the Week: White (Jan. 24, 2018)

Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Maddie Hart, Penn State, Sophomore

  • Won two individual events and aided to a relay victory versus Villanova
  • Took first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:00.82) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.96) with an NCAA B Standard time
  • Earns her first career Swimmer of the Week honor
  • Last Penn State Swimmer of the Week: Casey Francis (Nov. 18, 2015)

Men’s Diver of the Week

Ross Todd, Michigan, Freshman

  • Earned a first and second place finish in a Big Ten dual against Michigan State
  • Posted NCAA zone qualifying scores in the 1-meter (344.77) and 3-meter (382.95) events
  • Earns his second Diver of the Week award and the second of the season
  • Last Michigan Diver of the Week: Todd (Dec. 6, 2017)

Women’s Diver of the Week

Jayah Mathews, Iowa, Freshman

  • Earned two first place finishes in Iowa’s meet against Western Illinois
  • Scored NCAA zone qualifying scores in the 1-meter (284.65) and 3-meter (315.60) events
  • Earns her first career Diver of the Week award
  • Last Iowa Diver of the Week: Jacintha Thomas (Dec. 13, 2017)

Men’s Freshman of the Week

Luiz Gustavo Borges, Michigan

  • Placed first in the 100 freestyle (44.98) and fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:41.49) in a dual-meet against Michigan State
  • Helped the 200 freestyle relay team to a first place finish with a time of 1:20.22
  • Earns his first Freshman of the Week award
  • Last Michigan Freshman of the Week: Ricardo Vargas (Oct. 25, 2017)

Women’s Freshman of the Week

Sarah Schemmel, Iowa

  • Won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.10
  • Contributed to Iowa’s victory against Western Illinois
  • Earns her first career Freshman of the Week award
  • Last Iowa Freshman of the Week: Kelsey Drake (Dec. 13, 2017)
