BOSTON – Next week’s Ivy League women’s swimming and diving championships is bound to feature another classic battle between Harvard and Princeton as the two continue their dominance in the league.

The two schools have won the past 15 conference team titles, with Harvard taking last year’s trophy by just 25 points over Princeton. The annual dual meet between Princeton and Harvard didn’t help settle matters on which team is favored for this year’s conference trophy, as the two teams tied 150-150 at the annual Harvard-Yale-Princeton meet at the end of January.

Harvard looks to have a slight advantage as the top seed in four of the five relays. The Crimson also look to dominate the backstroke events, with the top three seeds in the 100 and three of the top four in the 200.

Yale’s Eva Fabian is the top seed in the 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyles. She’s coming off a spectacular summer that saw her win the silver medal in the 10-kilometer swim at the Pan Pacific championships, and now she’s looking to represent the Bulldogs at the NCAA championships. Fabian was the lone swimming representative for Yale at last year’s NCAA championships, swimming in both distance freestyles. Fabian looks to have some competition in the 500 and 1000 freestyles, as she’s seeded first by less than a second in both races. However, look for Fabian to drastically drop some time in an attempt to get an NCAA invite, and dominate in the mile.

Danielle Lee of Harvard is another potential NCAA qualifier. She swam the 100 and 200 backstrokes at the national championships last year and looks to earn another trip as a junior. Could she carry another Harvard backstroker to the Big Meet as the Crimson look to sweep the 100 backstroke?

Prelims begin at 11 a.m. each day, with finals starting at 6 p.m. Live results will be posted here when the meet begins Thursday.
