European Youth Olympic Festival Returns to Action After One-Day Break

BELGRADE, Serbia, July 26. THE European Youth Olympic Festival returned with eight more titles being decided during the third night of competition after swimmers had yesterday off to recuperate.

Women's 50 freestyle 14&U
Italy's Silvia Di Pietro led a trio of swimmers under 27 seconds with a top time of 26.23. Germany's Silke Lippok placed second in 26.62, while Hungary's Eva Dobar snagged third in 26.83.

Men's 1500 freestyle 16&U
Poland's Krzysztof Pielowski stopped the clock in 15:43.55 to win the distance freestyle event, while Russia's Sergey Strelnikov placed second in 15:49.45. Hungary's Gergely Gyurta took third in 15:49.76.

Women's 400 IM 14&U
Great Britain's Aimee Willmott added the 400 IM to her 200 IM title with a time of 4:50.32. She dominated Ukraine's Anna Yevchak (4:57.57) and Denmark's Amalie Emma Thomsen (4:59.42), who finished second and third, respectively.

Men's 200 butterfly 16&U
Russia's Sergey Ivanov captured the title with a time of 2:01.97, while Poland's Piotr Luczak clocked a readout of 2:03.33 for second. Hungary's Zsombor Szana closed out the top three in 2:04.82.

Women's 100 backstroke 14&U
Russia's Alevtina Orlova won the race in 1:04.24, with Poland's Klaudia Nazieblo (1:05.73) and France's Marie Jugnet (1:05.74) battling for second-place honors.

Men's 100 breaststroke 16&U
Italy's Andrea Toniato emerged from a competitive field to win the breaststroke event in 1:04.06. Germany's Troy Arnicke (1:04.64), Sweden's Johan Johansson (1:04.87) and Russia's Egor Volkov (1:04.98) all finished under 1:05 while chasing Toniato.

Women's 200 freestyle 14&U
Germany's Melanie Radicke cruised to victory with a time of 2:04.23, while Slovenia's Ursa Bezan (2:06.45), Great Britain's Lucy Ellis (2:06.55) and France's Solene Chaput (2:06.79) made second place come down to the touch with Bezan snagging silver.

Men's 50 freestyle 16&U
Italy's Fabio Gimondi touched out France's Yannick Agnel, 23.46 to 23.76, for the win, while Germany's Soren Barthel placed third in 24.09.
