Erik Namesnik Memorial Swim Meet: Briana Emig Wins Third Event to Close Meet

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania, May 27. BRIANA Emig won her third event of the meet to close out the three-day Erik Namesnik Memorial meet at the University of Pittsburgh.

Erie Aquatics' Marie Georger crushed the field in the opening event, winning the women's 200 back in 2:16.73. Fox Chapel's Margaret Gruber finished in 2:24.08 for second, followed by Team Pittsburgh's Tatyanna Sarjeant (2:26.66). After several top three finishes, Upper St. Clair's Ryan Dudzinski finally broke through in the men's 200 back with a winning effort of 2:11.43. Erie's Griffin Schaetzle took second in 2:12.97 and his teammate Adam Chrzanowski was third (2:15.93).

Melissa Gates of Nittany Lion Aquatic Club swept the sprint events this weekend with a second victory in the 100 free. She finished in 57.10, ahead of teammates Samantha Palser (58.23) and Katelyn Miller (58.45). Team Pittsburgh's Hussein Medhat-Mohamed won the men's 100 free in 52.22, just in front of NLAC's Andrew Sideras (52.34) and Greater Latrobe's Lucas Bureau (53.49).

Briana Emig picked up her third individual win of the weekend with a 2:17.04 in the women's 200 fly. Emig also won the 200 and 400 IM. Mount Lebanon's Saoirse Palu-Benson finished well behind in second at 2:30.36, while Medina Recreation's Samantha Petruzzi grabbed third in 2:34.98.

NLAC's Claire Singley posted another top three finish, this time a victory, in the women's 1500 free. Singley outlasted the field to win in 17:47.23, ahead of Fox Chapel's Braelyn Tracy (18:16.73) and Laurel Highlands YMCA's Alexis Kostelnik (18:25.24). Franklin Area Swim Team's Austin Mortimer earned his first victory of the weekend in the men's mile, completing the distance in 18:03.59. Noah Wechter took second (18:18.19) and Jonathan Schubert third (18:50.56).

In relay action, Norwin Aquatic Club's Jessica Cochran, Hannah Rusinko, Kathryn Painter and Courteney Hubert took home top honors in the women's 400 free relay at 4:27.73.
