Eric Hansen Inducted into Siouxland Hall of Fame

MADISON, Wisconsin, May 9. ERIC Hansen, the men’s and women’s swimming coach at the University of Wisconsin, was recently inducted into the Siouxland Hall of Fame in Sioux City, Iowa. That honor arrived less than a year after Hansen was inducted into the Iowa State University Hall of Fame.

A 1984 graduate of East Sioux City High, Hansen was honored at a dinner with the other inductees during the 37th Sertoma Sports Banquet.

"It was really nice to be recognized in the place in which I grew up," Hansen said. "It was great to go back and see so many people from the area and to be honored by the people who supported and provided opportunities to not only me but also the youth of the area."

During the 2005 NCAA Championships, Hansen guided the Wisconsin women to an 11th-place finish in the team standings and helped the Badger men place 19th. Hansen has also had a major influence on the career of Carly Piper, a 2004 Olympic gold medalist in the 800 freestyle relay.
