Elka Graham Swims Swift 200 Free at New SouthWales Champs

SYDNEY, Jan. 21. AUSSIE Olympian Elka Graham clocked a fast 1:59.23 in the final of the 200 free at the New South Wales Open Championships at the Sydney International Aquatic Center tonight.

Graham, 21, recently moved from her long-time coach, Narelle Simpson, to Australian head men's coach, Brian Sutton, and she has been showing some excellent form these past two months.

Graham took the World Cup treble in Melbourne last December winning the 100-200-400 free. Her 200 (1:55.12) and 400 (4:01.17) were particularly fast, with both just over one second outside the world marks by Lindsay Benko (1:54.04 for the 200) and Claudia Poll (4:00.03 for the 400).

Graham's time last night would have placed her eighth in the world long course rankings last year.
