PHOENIX, Arizona, January 15. ELIZABETH Beisel's name showed up on a distinctive list today, as the junior at the University of Florida is one of 16 people Yahoo! Sports picked as the “Most Famous Kids in College Right Now.”
The website picked Beisel because of her accomplishments in the pool, which include a silver medal in the 400 individual medley and a bronze in the 200 backstroke (which the site did not recognize) at the London Olympics. Anyone who has been in the same building as Beisel will testify to her infectiously bubbly personality and hearty laugh as other reasons to be included on any list.
Beisel had the second-best medal haul among American collegiate swimmers at the Olympics behind Allison Schmitt (another worthy candidate on this list) and is primed to perform well at the NCAA championships in March.
Two other athletes appear on the Yahoo! Sports list: Oklahoma gymnast Jake Dalton and Michigan gymnast Sam Mikulak.
