BLACKSBURG, Va., June 6. VIRGINIA TECH signed eight athletes during the spring recruiting season, an octet that will join the eight signees from the fall period. The latest group of recruits features a strong mix of swimmers and divers.
Leading the way in the pool is James Aitken, a standout from North Carolina. Aitken is expected to add versatility to the squad, as he’s an accomplished backstroker and individual medley performer, but best suited in the breaststroke. He will be supported by Ben Miller, a distance freestyler from Virginia who was a two-time MVP at Herndon High.
Also joining the Hokies as swimmers are Ben Prue (multi-event), a key relay performer for the high-powered Wilton YMCA (Connecticut), John Riley (distance free) and Harrison Simmons (backstroke). The diving contingent includes Bert Beucker, Stephanie Daly and Chris Waldheim.
